Snow fell in Antalya for the first time in 29 years

It snowed for the first time in 29 years in Antalya on Tuesday. This is reported by the Hurriyet newspaper.

The heaviest snowfalls were recorded in Istanbul. Due to rainfall, the authorities of this city had to suspend the operation of the airport, as well as prohibit residents from using personal vehicles until 13:00. The road between Ankara and Istanbul was blocked for several hours.

In some areas of the Sea of ​​Marmara, about 50-60 cm of snow fell. Precipitation is also recorded in the central provinces and in the south of Turkey. 

Residents of regions where snowfalls continue are advised to stay at home and not go out. Forecasters predict that the snow in Istanbul will last until Friday. 

It was previously reported that Turkish Airlines extended the stop of flights at Istanbul Airport until midnight on January 26.
